Internap Strengthens Management Team with Senior VP Marketing
ATLANTA, August 17, 2009 — Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, announced Peter M. Evans has joined the company today as the Senior Vice President of Marketing. In making the announcement, Internap President and CEO, Eric Cooney, noted the addition of Evans was a key step in the plan to build a strong leadership team and position Internap for long-term profitable growth.
Most recently, Evans served as Director of Technology and Market Strategy for IBM’s Internet Security Systems Division, Chief Technology Office. Evans was the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Internet Security Systems (ISS) prior to it being acquired by IBM for $1.5 billion. His leadership – turning ISS into a more market-driven organization – was a key part of the company’s evolution and substantial growth.
Evans started his career with Nortel Networks. During that time, he led the startup of the long distance voice switching and Voice over IP (VoIP) switching business, the data sales organization and the launch of several other major networking data products and services. He has also worked in a variety of technology startups, including as CEO of his own company, all of which had successful track records and exits.
“Peter is clearly a seasoned global marketing executive. He brings to Internap invaluable experience in areas including: corporate branding, marketing communications and aligning strategy and product roadmaps,” Cooney said.
“We were attracted to Peter’s strong track record as a team player who has helped to build successful technology and customer service driven businesses leveraging both organic and M&A growth strategies. He has held General Management and head of Sales roles and has operated as an executive in both large corporate and early stage companies. Peter and I share a common view on strategies for growth and the long-term opportunities for Internap,” Cooney added.
Evans holds undergraduate degrees in applied mathematics and computer sciences from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from York University, Toronto.
