Internap Extends Ability to Deliver Predictable Network Performance Through Interconnection Agreement with Lightower Fiber Networks
Regional fiber provider builds into Internap’s premium data center at 111 8th Avenue in New York City
ATLANTA – July 28, 2010 — Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a leading provider of end-to-end Internet business products and services, today announced its alliance with Lightower Fiber Networks, a leading metro fiber network and bandwidth service provider in the Northeast. Through the relationship, enterprises in buildings and data centers connected to Lightower’s all-fiber network can now optimize network performance and availability through the use of Internap’s Performance IP™. Businesses can also benefit from Internap’s Managed Hosting, CDN and Colocation services.
As a result of the agreement, Lightower has installed a point of presence in Internap’s Manhattan data center facility located at 111 8th Avenue. Lightower’s all-fiber network is strategically and diversely connected to financial exchanges, carrier hotels, data centers, commercial buildings, and other critical interconnection facilities throughout the Northeast – offering customers the best solutions at the best locations.
“Internap is now able to extend the reach of our 111 8th Avenue data center and all the solutions in that location well beyond metropolitan New York to serve additional markets and clients across Lightower’s impressive 1,750 lit building network. This will allow businesses to take advantage of Internap’s Performance IP routing technology to deliver optimized, reliable and predictable performance across their networks at competitive price levels,” said Scott Hrastar, Internap’s SVP of IP Services.
Performance IP, based on Internap’s Managed Internet Route Optimizer™ (MIRO) technology, routes information traffic over redundant, high-speed connections to all of the major Internet backbones in each market. As a result, MIRO provides intelligent, optimized and highly-reliable delivery of customer content, applications and communications throughout the world.
Performance IP and Internap’s suite of data center offerings are ideally suited for online financial firms, rich media companies, e-commerce and Internet-centric companies. These businesses and similar organizations are sensitive to the performance, availability and latency issues that hamper Internet performance and adversely impact financial results.
Lightower offers Internap customers a complete suite of low latency connectivity solutions up to 40G, including wavelengths and Ethernet. Lightower’s all-fiber network connects Internap customers at 111 8th Avenue to all of the major regional interconnection facilities in the New York metro area.
“Lightower’s relationship with Internap creates a very powerful combination of intelligent routing technology with the proven dependability and performance of the Lightower all-fiber network, which is especially valuable to those companies who depend on high-performance Internet service,” explained Doug Dalissandro, Lightower’s EVP of Sales.
