Blue Dasher Technologies Accumulates Massive Images as it Photographs City Streets
Miami-based Digital Imaging Company Uses Internap’s Flexible, Secure Content Management and Delivery for High-Density, Panoramic Views of U.S. Population Centers
ATLANTA, March 24, 2009 — Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, today announced that Blue Dasher Technologies, a provider of high-quality, 360-degree street-level imaging and advanced viewing technology, is one of the first major customers for the Internap eXtended Network Access Point (XNAP) service. Blue Dasher is using this technology to establish a private connection between two major managed server implementations at colocation facilities in Los Angeles and Miami.
Previously, customers that needed to connect multiple data center environments, operated by different companies, were unable to establish a private Ethernet connection between the various companies. XNAP is a compelling customer solution as it is more cost-effective than a long-distance private line, allows for burstability and scalability; and is the key enabling technology for a growing number of companies attempting to establish geographically diverse disaster recovery sites.
Launched in 2008, Blue Dasher provides high-density panoramic street level images of major population centers in the U.S. and advanced viewing technology which it licenses to providers of consumer, commercial, industrial and government applications. Blue Dasher users have access to exact addresses, which proves to be a useful tool for a host of applications, from researching real estate locations to planning a trip online.
“Obviously, our files are extremely large. We needed a cost-effective solution that delivers flexibility, security and high availability, enabling us to ensure optimal performance for our licensees at all times,” said Blue Dasher CEO Michael Reidbord. “We are not in the business of managing servers. We chose Internap for their expertise in all aspects of data management and reliable content delivery.”
“Blue Dasher made a great choice when they decided to outsource their server storage and management with Internap,” said Internap Chief Technology Officer Tim Sullivan. “Blue Dasher needs a partner who can be trusted to deliver a secure, scalable and reliable solution that can sustain their high-growth requirements and Internap is that partner.”
